Week 14

August 29 - The Cleveland Baergas and Denver Snow Dogs met in a battle of division leaders, and more importantly, the conclusion of the Dinner Series.  The Dogs took three of four from the Baergas in Denver to open the season and have dominated the league this season.  But Cleveland was ready and took the first three games before Denver won big in the finale, leaving the season series deadlocked at four games each.

In the meantime, the Independence Threat have caught fire and pulled to within three games of Cleveland in the American Division, and the Danville Dixie Dynomite are seven games backed.  The Snow Dogs have all but clinched the National Division with a 16-game lead over the Sterling Gas House Gang and the Columbus Convicts.  The Florida Rockets are just three games behind the Cons and the Gang in the battle for the second playoff spot.

Week 8

July 9 - The Denver Snow Dogs swept a four-game set from the Convicts in Columbus to extend their lead to 10 games in the National Division.  It was a tough week for the Cons who fell to fourth in the division as the Sterling Gas House Gang and Florida Rockets moved into a tie for second.  Sterling comes to Denver for a three-game series in week 9, giving them a chance to cut into the Dogs' lead.

Over in the American Division, the preseason favorite Independence Threat are finally making their move.  Indy is now just three games behind the surprising Cleveland Baergas.  The Nova Scotia Expos have also made a move and are just one game behind the Threat in fourth place.

Week 7

June 26 - The Denver Snow Dogs are the story of the GABL through the first third of the 2000 season.  The Dogs, who  have not had a winning season in six years, have the best record in the league, seven games ahead of the Columbus Convicts and Cleveland Baergas.  Denver has been winning everywhere - at home (20-6) and on the road (20-7), against lefties (9-2) and righties (31-11), against the National Division (23-6) and against the American Division (17-7).

The Convicts, the Sterling Gas House Gang and the Florida Rockets are chasing the Dogs in the National Division, apparently merely battling for the second playoff spot.  Meanwhile, the four-time GABL champion Bridgetown Parrot Heads are languishing near the cellar.

The Baergas are the surprise leaders in the American Division, two games ahead of the Texas Outlaws, who are also a surprise.  Five teams are just four games apart behind the leaders.  The Independence Threat are the big disappointment in the league.  The preseason American Division favorites, the Threat are struggling just to get back to .500.

Week 4

June 5 - The turnaround of the Denver Snow Dogs continues to be the story thus far.  The Dogs continued to sizzle this week, improving to 25-5.  Last year they were a disappointing 10-20 at this point.

"Everything's going right for us right now," Denver manager Tim Teufel said.  "Obviously we won't play over .800 for the entire season, but we'll be very disappointed if we don't make the playoffs."

The Dogs last made the playoffs in 1994, which was also their last winning season.
